How did you handle first day of school? |
|
My 4 yr old is starting pre-school this September and I'm a nervous wreck. The only time hes away from me is when he goes with his father on the weekend. I dont even like that but I'm not going to stop him from going to his fathers!
I can almost cry even thinking about him leaving 3 days a week for a few hours. Hes my love bug!!!!
What did you do to ease the pain? Hes growing up so fast and I dont like it :(

1. My boys were so independent, they didn't want me to go with them |
|
:)
but to regular kindergarten..not pre-school.. Only one wanted pre-school, and after he started, he didn't want to keep going. He missed his two brothers at home, and they didn;t want to go..

2. Hes independent to a point... |
|
He can play by himself with no problems. He doesnt need the teachings of preschool, he needs the interaction with other kids. His only other REAL interaction is his 2 yr old sister. he can write, spell his whole name, abcs, numbers, etc. so I have a feeling hes going to be bored.
He loves to go to sunday school but thats primarily because of the teacher. She babies him :)
I'm probably more nervous than he is!

It just makes me so sad :( I dont know how you handled the bye mom!! I would've been sobbing all day.
I still have 2 years before my daughter goes to school and 4 more until the baby goes to school so I'm trying to hang on!
I even thought of homeschooling but I think thats just me being selfish on the reason why I would. Also a little over protective!! I hate seeing them grow up so fast.

5. This was the same son who went to college in Italy |
|
I was kind of worried about him being so far away.. and it was right after 9-11 too..But he did fine..
IO learned a long time ago that there are just too many things to worry about...and it;s better to just go with the flow :) If you act upset about him going to school, he'll feel it..
Call a friend, get a sitter and go have a leisurely posh breakfast/brunch or lunch, if he's in pm kindergarten..

6. My daughter was very advanced in those areas, too. |
|
I discussed it with the preschool director, and after some observation on her part, we opted for putting my daughter with an older group. For the first year, she was not on the same level socially, but she enjoyed herself, kept up in all the cognitive areas and was never bullied (my fear).
My daughter LOVES her preschool. And it has been a great resource for me, too. I enjoy doing volunteer work there, and have met and bonded with a number of the other families. So it has been a success socially for all of us :)
