I would appreciate any help with this question |

I need help, please... Here's the question: I have a Compaq NC6000 notebook. I noticed about a week ago that the screen started to slowly BUT surely slide backwards such that if I were to let it completely slide, it would be laid out completely flat open. I decided to check, because I noticed that the hinge on one side of the computer screen was definitely looser than the other. I hoped that it was just a matter of tightening the screws on the hinge but it became quickly apparent the bushings were broken. Upon further investigation, I found that LCD hinge is actually cracked completely across. Obviously, I need to find a replacement hinge. Other than the issue with the screen, the computer is perfectly fine and in fact, the screen doesn't always move backward. IN any case, does anyone in this forum know or have an idea where I might get my hot little hands on a new or replacement LCD HInge? Any input will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance

I think you have 2 options. One, return to the factory for repair....they'll usually quote you a charge to do it before doing the actual repairs. In my case, I think they quoted my around $300.00 to fix. I decided I could live with the problem. Basically, I took a wire coathanger and bent it up so it would support the screen in the open poition.
