Open Source Idea

Gang,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a centralized volunteer database system on the web. I looked and didn't see anything that was all-encomassing like I envision.

I would think a non-profit system much like Monster.com for volunterering would be interesting and needed. Separate it into locations, like state/region/city, as well as into categories, like political action, social action, environmental action etc.

Any comments? I don't think the design would be that big a deal to match users to organizations, and it could be easily done in MySQL/PHP, MSDE/.NET, or other technology.

Comments? Questions? Suggestions?
