Going to re-install, looking for distro suggestions |
|
So my HD is on it's last legs and the new one is in the mail, so I'm shopping around (so to speak) for what distro I'm going to use. I've used Mandrake 9.1 & 10.0 which I'm on now. I think I'm going to go full linux, no win partition too this time :D I mostly use the machine for surfing, mp3 player/ripping, and games. Anyway, I'm running an AMD 1.4GHz on an Asus mobo, onboard GForce2, nvidia audio and lan(that doesn't work under the 2.6.3 for me). I'm downloading the ubuntu live disk to give that a try and have a backup just in case. So what's your favorite distro and why?

1. I use Suse 9.2 Pro on my desktop, and Fedora Core3 on my laptop... |

...and really, either of them would be just fine for you. If you want to spend the money for the support, get Suse. If you're comfortable on your own, but want a very, very polished distro, I'd use Fedora.

And I think you know why.
10.1 right now. Very happy with it too. 10.2 is just around the corner and I hear tons of good things about it.
