I also reset the format so the letter size is just right for me. This is fine when I'm working on documents, but now Web pages don't display properly. For example, if there is a little box to link through to the next page, Ii can't see it. I have to move the mouse around until the pointer changes.

Is there any way around this short of switching back to Windows XP as the standard scheme?

On edit - even when I went back to WIndows XP, the boxes are missing. I might be using some poorly designed pages but I think It's my machine.

1. Could you not manually adjust the brightness and contrast??
What type of monitor?

2. Um, yeah, I figured that out yesterday. Well, at least I figured out
how to adjust the brightness. I still can't figure out how to go about screwing up the contrast. On the other hand, I do kind of like the grey blue scheme I'm using now.

3. By adjusting the brightness and contrast (and color temp) you can retain
the ratio. Personally, I like mine as bright as can be (one eyed pirate here)

4. Even with the brightness turned down to about 45%, I find the normal
Window page colors too bright. I'm really liking DU with the grey blue background and nice big letters.I have another computer that I may set up for the internet strictly for bill paying and account checking.

5. You can also possibly adjust brightness and contrast from your Windows control panel..
Go into control panel and see if there is a control for your video card hardware, often there is and you can adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, position and so forth.
