Desktop Purchase Help
I am one of those people who usually turn to Dell for my computer needs. I have often bought off their refurbished website when they have coupons available. Can anybody recommend any other sites where I can get a good value (i.e. good deal) on a reliable desktop?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

1. Newegg ...

newegg.com

and

tigerdirect.com

Both have good deals on a wide range of pre-built systems and are reputable companies.

5. And in some cases do the opposite.

Like the idiot that blamed newegg and the motherboard for the fact that his AM2+ cpu wouldn't fit on the AM3 board.

6. That sort of story might explain newegg's separate cpu return policy

7. Honestly
Finding a person localy to build you one is the best route. Pre packaged computers are fine but there is nothing that compares with a machine built for your needs with quality parts. The big boys all shave somewhere to keep costs down while delivering as many features as they can. Many times you dont need things they think you do and so you are losing somewhere to make up for having something you dont need.

Finding someone reputable can be hard but once you find them not only do you get a machine tailored to you but if anything goes wrong you dont have to talk to india.

Having said all that New egg is great :) or tiger direct as well depending on where you live. New egg is west coast and Tiger is east.

8. On this Fourth of July weekend
I would like to recommend http://www.system76.com/index.php?cPath=27">System76.

No Windows tax, No TrialWare, No CrapWare... Starting at $295...

System76 is a computer hardware manufacturer based in Denver, Colorado. Their products are all preloaded with the Ubuntu Operating System.
