Firefox keeps crashing on my 'puter; can anyone
diagnose why? Maybe I need an upgrade? It's happened about 5 times today alone. Easy to get it back, but all of a sudden-gone.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or only me?

Thank you!

:hi:

1. Dunno. But maybe you could tell us what version of FF you're using
and what your OS is

2. If it started suddenly
could be a number of things. Upgrade doesn't sound like a good solution until you have found the cause. Anyhow, I think your FF is reasonably current (or it was last time I looked :))

Fire up internet explorer and use it for a while. If there are no crashes, prolly means its a Firefox issue of one kind or another and best way to fix is to uninstall - but properly. Clean out the registry, delete the profile etc. and load up a new copy.

Oh, and have you recently added any add-ons to Firefox? That could do it for ya.

4. A belated reply, but it's still happening, worse on some days
than others. I also get an occasional box that pops up, re: plug-in container.exe when FF crashes, encouraging me to send an error report.
It restores rapidly, but I'm wondering if I should do what you advise. Do you know anything (of course you do!) about that plug in container stuff?
It's always something. :hi:

5. Ya know Sis, it's like pulling teeth...
extracting information from you :hi:

Plug-in container crashing is pretty common in the recent Firefox and I'd say you are getting that message because Flash has crashed. You CAN remove the Flash plug-in from Firefox but it's a little bit tricky cleaning up the correct files.

So, I'd say use Revo to uninstall Firefox then install the latest version. This way you will keep your bookmarks and settings. This will mean needing to re-install Flash.

Out of interest, have you had any other hokey behaviour on your computer, such as programs suddenly quitting, or too many error boxes? I ask because the Firefox crashes could also be a symptom of failing RAM. Maybe a 'session' is on the cards....

6. I must need a session.
 When FF crashes, everything quits. I'm not quite getting the gist of what you're asking specifically. I can try to do the steps you suggest and see what happens. And RAM failing sounds downright expensive. :scared:

I'm really sorry for the delay, too. :D

7. So, do you mean when Firefox crashes
with the container message, your whole computer shuts down and you need to restart?

If it's just Firefox crashing I'd bet money on it being the Flash plug-in and nothing more serious. Didn't mean to alarm you about the RAM. If that is the case, it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Speak to you soon.... :hi:

8. No, I don't need to restart. A crash msg is sent to FF
and then I can get going again, but it seemed to be happening with increasing frequency yesterday.

Chat soon! :loveya:

3. I hated FF.
Audio would always mess up, I thought it was a piece of crap. Switched to Chrome, no problems since.

9. Check your Add-ons, one could be conflicting with others.

10. Thanks, but how would I know? I don't recall adding anything
on lately either.
