Weird modem activity, periodic data bursts |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-07-11 02:25 PM by RKP5637
I've been getting some weird modem activity, periodic data bursts that last about 5 seconds and occur about every 15 seconds. I happened to glance over and noticed the Rx and Tx lights rapidly blinking.
I'm locked down well with all ports stealth, run a router firewall and a software firewall.
I did a trace on it and it looks like the source is Verizon business in Houston. It's kind of weird, it looks like they are constantly probing my modem. I have no account with Verizon.
Any ideas what's up with this? Last night I unplugged the modem for about 5 mins and did a restart and it was gone. Now, it's started up again today.
PS: I just checked my router logs, there's no suspicious activity, not attacks, etc. Maybe my ISP is doing something with the street cable and sending out packet streams. Now, I don't see any Verizon Business activity, but the lights continue flashing. I'll give my ISP a call if it continues as I've never seen this activity before at this location.

I forgot I had left the TV upstairs in streaming mode. I was seeing packets of data streaming. Ohhhhhh, I though I had turned off the streaming. Dumb, dumb, dumb of me.
