Pet Airways, the first pet-only airline specifically designed for the safe and comfortable transportation of pets, announced Thursday that the first pet flights are scheduled for July 14. On Pet Airways, all pets travel in the main cabin, not in the cargo hold. Serving five cities to start -- New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles --
Pet Airways plans to expand nationwide with easily accessible pet check-in lounges to serve its “pawsengers” in major metropolitan areas.
I think this is great; I posted it in GD too, but it will probably sink fast.
Just an FYI for our furry friends.

I wonder how it will do in this economy.
I sat next to a pilot (not the one flying the plane) on a flight once and she said she would never fly a pet of hers in cargo. They will die if there is any suspicion of a fire because all the oxygen is consumed by whatever it is they use to make fire not spread. Passengers aren't generally aware of this when it happens, because if a catastrophe is avoided, you aren't going to hear about it.
