We just got our first foster dog |
|
We picked him up yesterday and he fit right in with our dogs. Who ever ends up with him is very lucky. Tucker will be posted on the website some time today. http://www.springerrescue.org/dogdocs/regions/available.php?reg=MW#WI

1. THey're good looking dogs. A friend of mine had a pair and |
|
lost the female. She's been thinking about adopting.
I'm involved in Peke and Shih Tzu rescue. I ended up adopting my first foster - a failed foster mom !

2. Bless you for doing that |

After we lost our two German Shepherds I had thought about being a "foster mom" for rescue shepherds but knew that I couldn't.
My problem is that I get too attached too quickly and each time having to give one out for adoption to a forever home would have been heartbreaking. Seriously.
We did end up adopting two German Shepherds (litter mates...sisters) from a kennel whose owner had died and the family didn't know what to do with two of the young females who were 10 months old at the time and not very well socialized.
It only took a couple of days for me to become irreversibly attached to them.
Anyway, I have a lot of admiration and respect for people who are able to be foster parents to rescue dogs...

4. Tucker went to his new home |

He got a wonderful new mom
We are now on our second rescue but I don't think he's going anywhere because we hope to adopt him ourselves.

5. Same here, although my experience hasn't been so good ... |
|
He's "Pluto" www.beaglebuddies.org.
We rescued him from a kill shelter the day he was supposed to be put down. Initially, he was great with my two 'resident' dogs (Hank and Ray), but over the last couple days he's charged and and attacked Ray (my elderly beagle) twice. No provocation - they weren't within 10 feet of each other.
Hank and Ray both consider me the Alpha of our 'pack' and get along perfectly well, having been together for 4 years.
I don't want to sell the foster dog short so would appreciate any feedback on whether or not this is just a 'sorting out his place in the pack' issue, or insecurity, or ?? for Pluto.
Thanks!!
