My dog peed on another dog at doggy daycare today.
I hardly know what to say. He's never peed on another living creature that I know of. He marks things like most male dogs do.

I asked if he was mad at the other dog or didn't like it and they said no, your dog likes all the other dogs. So I don't really know what I can do about it.

They had to give the other dog a bath.

2. Did it once or a bunch of times?
I've never seen him do it so I don't know how I can stop it if he only does it at daycare.

4. He must think he seriously outranks his doggie friend.
That is the ultimate dominance move. The times I have seen this is usually not an Alpha doing the peeing but often a dog that ranks low but finally finds a wussier dog to actually mark.

5. Mine is a bit of an Alpha.
They spray water on the dogs for humping, and I know he's been guilty of that. Maybe he thought he could get away with this move instead.

6. Did you ask if the other dog stuck his head where your dog
was peeing? That has happened to my boy I swear I don't know what he is thinking sometimes.

7. They said the peed upon dog was lying down.
I think its a dominance issue if its deliberate. But I also think dogs do things absentmindedly sometimes. Ever walk in the house and throw your house keys in the garbage? I think dogs just pee on stuff because they need to pee and its there.

8. Pee is important to dogs. They don't pee by mistake.
Edited on Thu Feb-25-10 01:50 PM by Walk away
They might pee because their bladder can't hold it in and sometimes they pee involuntarily from fear or submission. Sounds like your dog is sending a clear (but not aggressive) message. "I am top dog!"

I should add that submissive dogs can do just the opposite. When confronted with their alpha (people or dog) they roll on their back and pee up in the air and on to themselves. I have seen several dogs do it.

9. Its especially important to male dogs.
Mine likes to "save" his for the dog park. I have a feeling that he was showing dominance in this way because they stopped him from humping. Always looking for a way to get around the rules.

10. I work with dogs and one day I was out with a year old, intact Briard...
who is a big favorite of mine. He is a 120 lb charmer and I was a little indulgent with him. I stopped to talk to a friend for a few minutes and I let him wander around on a long, loose leash. He soon became bored and tried to push me away from my friend. When I ignored him he lifted his leg and peed all over my legs and shoes.

Needless to say, it was heel, sit and stay after that. He's still a favorite.

13. My ex peed on his cat once.
Totally by accident. He was groggy in the morning, and the cat jumped up on the toilet seat and got in the way of the stream.
