snip> He said he was "sickened" by the ballot initiatives in 11 states last year banning gay marriage. "The only reason to put gay marriage on the ballot in those 11 states was to scapegoat a minority that was unpopular in order to win an election," he said.http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-howard-dean,0,874269.story?coll=sns-ap-nationworld-headlines:loveya:

1. Good for him. Another good quote from there: |
|
"The former Vermont governor and unsuccessful presidential candidate said the GOP rode the issues of ``guns, God and gays'' to victory in 2004. "
And they did, and we never called them on it after Dean was out of the race. I am glad he is the voice of opposition.
I liked the way he handled a question on C-Span tonight....something about how he would handle something in the party, or what he would continue to do.
He said first he would tell them what he would do if he did get chair, and he did. Then he said very clearly and pointedly that he would continue to work with DFA if he didn't....and he pointed out the accomplishments. He was very casual about it. I liked that.
