a small gift from the Universe |
|
Yesterday when my radio alarm went off, I lost my station while scrambling to shut off the radio. I've listened to that station since I moved up here -- couldn't find any alternative stations, the only classical station was pathetic, almost everything is Kristian "rock" and a few oldies. I ended up settling on a classic rock/pop which sometimes I like and sometimes not so much.
So last night there was nothing on my tv station and I decided to read with music. Tried to find my old station and couldn't. But landed on some Spanish/flamenco sounding music. Followed by World Beat which I haven't heard in a looooong time! Great!!!!! Left the radio on that station. I was awakened this morning by a talk program. Was about to turn it off and I realized it was *progressive* not teabagger!!!! They were talking about PNAC and 9/11. And then I let the dogs out. When I came back, they put on "Trance Dance Workout" and I was treated to a meditative hour nonstop of native american drumming and flute. And then came the news: "National Native American News." Turns out the station broadcasts from near the village that I was hoping to move to...
What a great start to my day, and great ending I'll have now. Finally, at long last, good radio :D :D :D

There is nothing better than finding a radio station that "resonates"!
I love serendipity through the radio, too--it's one of my favorite "systems" to receive messages from the Universe. I've been doing that since I was a preteen, come to think of it!
My most recent LOL--while I was driving around, running errands, I asked for a general message and got "Hey Soul Sister", which made me smile. Love the song, and I thought it was a cute way for the Universe to say hi. When it was over, I changed the station (I'm a chronic button-pusher) and got it AGAIN. And AGAIN. Grand total: FOUR TIMES in a row! And that was just last week--at a time when the song is no longer in heavy rotation. Loved how emphatic the message was!

2. Simple pleasures are the best! |

I just back home from getting picking up take-out dinners. While sitting in the car I was upset that the radio here really sucks for me, and was reminiscing about the plethora of stations in the D.C. area. Luckily, NPR comes in clearly but can you believe some asshole congressman is working hard to abolish Public Broadcasting??? I'm going to figure out how to afford satellite - can't believe I have to go this far to enjoy simple radio.
Enjoy, NL. You deserve it!

5. Yes, you know what I'm talking about! |

Man, I miss just switching on Howard University's Radio, WPFW and stations actually competing for listeners.
My husband recently got a Native American station broadcasting from Nevada of all places! I think there's a lesson here for me, NL decided not to stress it and my husband accepted it, and found choice stations. I guess I should stop cursing the stations here

4. I love to discover new music especially stuff you |
|
would never hear on the radio, and a lot of times I'll have the tv dish music on various channels, background music, ya know, and you can discover the greatest things there, but what I have recently found fantastic is Pandora Radio online. You create your own stations.. The only thing is, say for example, I hadn't heard Gordon Lightfoot in forever so I thought I would create some Gordy, ya. know...and then they play the first song by him no problem, but then they start playing similar music, which included Bob Dylan and others, fine, but I wanted ONLY GLightfoot! OH< I love that voice!!!
I found a lot of really great artists by simply putting in New age Beats or African Rhythms.
