Had our first two tomatoes tonight |
for dinner. Small (Stupice) but excellent flavor. Haven't tried that variety before but certainly will again. It bears early and is cold tolerant as well. Don't think i've ever tasted a tomato so sweet. (And i am eighty). z

1. Thanks, Zoigal. I'll have to recommend that variety to my |
friends who live in the mtns. of NC, where the growing season is very short. My tomatoes are just now blooming, so I'm envious of your early ripe ones.

2. Territorial Seeds (Oregon) |
has quite a few early producing tomatoes that do well in areas of short growing season (including stupice). I've grown several of their varieties when we lived in western OR where there are often "green tomato" summers. Territorialseeds.com Might be worth your friends looking into. Have you ever planting early and using "walls of water" (plastic surrounds filled with water) on your tomato plants? I also did this in OR and it worked well. Kind of mini greenhouses. Might help you get an earlier start. Happy gardening....z
