I just wanted to share this with you, some will understand, many will not.
An old boy from Texas that I used to work with described Okra like this, "That stuff gets so slimy when you cook it you've gotta cross your legs to eat it".

in GA plus a few other places, and I like okra in all forms, too, except for whole pods cooked until they explode. Then they look like vomit, esp. when served over rice!

Cut in 1/2-inch to 1-inch cubes and place in strainer, run water through SEVERAL times (10-20) and just let the slime drip out. When there's no more slime, they're ready to cook. Now if I could just grow the little buggers. Started them from seeds this year and had lots of starts. I (and several other people I gave the overage to) planted them in the ground and they almost all died. Weird.
