2. I was thinking about trying potatoes too.
I was going to do the garbage can method. How did you do them in the cage?

4. It's actually pretty easy
Make a circular cage out of 3' chickenwire fencing, and stake it into the ground. Put down a layer of straw, or soil, or compost, or mulch, or all of those together. Then you put in 7 potato pieces - 6 in a hexagonal pattern around the outside, and one in the middle. Cover them with more of your growing medium of choice, and as the plants grow, keep covering the bottom with it. By the end you'll have a foot or more of growing medium which has potatoes in it. Then take the fence down and pick through to find the potatoes. Potatoes grow so easily I had thrown some in my compost pile and they grew in it!

6. Cool!
That sounds even easier than the trashcan method!

3. Nice haul!
If that were my harvest I'd scoop up all those tiny ones and make a vinegary potato salad TODAY.
