Can't say I'm surprised, to be honest.

5. And I know it, apparently |
|
In retrospect, it was an error to announce the poll here, and I regret doing that. But I'm still impressed by the intensity of the discussion, however brief it was.
However, the quibbles about what "liberal" means and whether or not "energy healing" is a liberal issue are pointless nit-picking IMO. I'd wager that the majority of chi/prana true-believers in 21st century America identify themselves as Liberal instead of Conservative.

6. That needn't mean that a significant number of liberals believe it, though |
|
If you don't care "whether or not "energy healing" is a liberal issue", then there'd be no need to be embarrassed, would there?

But there is a vocal and acrimonious contingent of truebelievers here at DU, for whom any of alternative medicine's claims is justified as long as it defies western medical dogma (so-called).
And, to be honest, it does embarrass me, because it speaks of sloppy thinking among a political subset with which I am uncomfortable to be associated.
So the point of the poll was two-fold: to ask what "Liberal" issues embarrass the average DU'er and to mock what I find to be the most embarrassing of them. Clearly it was a slanted poll; even to call it such would be a redundant exercise in redundant redundancy. But I can think of at least one other DU'er who posts inflammatory polls almost daily, somehow without running afoul of DU's sensibilities.
I don't fault the Mod for locking my poll, thouh, and I actually PM'ed him about it.
