3. I wish I had the patience for a bird
Good lord that would be the most miserable bird. Cats are totally more on my level. they let me know when they want attention....ignore me the rest of the time. that's fine with me. We can go on vacation and they're pretty independent---we have friends come by every 3 days to refresh water & food and empty the litter box. We come back after being gone 2 weeks and they look at us like we're crashing the party.

Maybe one day when I get rich I can hire someone to be a keeper for my bird, then I can get a bird. I want a hawk that I can put the little hat on that will fly away and grab a vole or something when I take the little hat off its head.

my cats don't like hats. unlike hawks.

9. I would love to have a bird too, but it wouldn't be fair to the poor thing.

Do you remember the trained hawk in a Manhattan park that thought a chihuahua was a rat and tried to carry him off?

The falconer was hired to scare pigeons out of the park.

Oops.

10. Yes, captivity
That's why I could never keep a bird, despite fond memories of a cockatiel we had when I was a kid: I just couldn't bring myself to keep a bird confined. I'm not making a judgement about other people who do so, just saying that I personally wouldn't be comfortable with it. A rescue bird might be a possibility, I suppose, but my sister has one, and thanks to its former owner's abuse it's an emotional wreck.

It's a shame, because parrots are nature's therapy. It's humanly impossible to watch Snowball without smiling!

11. I can't have an aquarium because of the guilt.
I just want to cry whenever I see betas kept in those tiny little bowls.

Not even the captive animals I rescued were exceptions.

8. You're only saying that because your chickens are jealous of Snowball's fame.
Just kidding, I love your chickens.

7. I bet you could teach Arthur and Lyta to hip hop.
Our rabbits used to jump around like Nigerian goat kids when they were frisky.
