McCarthy's son not autistic after all?
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1967796-1,00.html

"McCarthy claims Evan was healed through a range of experimental and unproved biomedical treatments; even more controversially, she blames the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine for giving her son autism."

"McCarthy says she does not believe all vaccines are bad — though she swears she will never allow Evan to receive another — nor is she saying you shouldn't vaccinate your child. Her position is more slippery but just as heretical to prevailing medical wisdom: do everything necessary to cure your child, no matter what the doctors tell you."

"There are dark murmurings from scientists and doctors asking, Was her son ever really autistic? Evan's symptoms — heavy seizures, followed by marked improvement once the seizures were brought under control — are similar to those of Landau-Kleffner syndrome, a rare childhood neurological disorder that can also result in speech impairment and possible long-term neurological damage. Or, as other pediatricians have suggested, perhaps the miracle I have beheld is the quotidian miracle of childhood development: a delayed 2-year-old catching up by the time he is 7, a commonplace, routine occurrence, nothing more surprising than a short boy growing tall."

http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2010/02/26/jenny-mccarthy-says-her-son-evan-never-had-autism/

"Jenny talks about her son’s progress saying, “Evan couldn’t talk — now he talks. Evan couldn’t make eye contact — now he makes eye contact. Evan was anti-social — now he makes friends. It was amazing to watch … when something didn’t work for Evan, I didn’t stop. I stopped that treatment, but I didn’t stop.”

And she is also reversing her initial position that the MMR shots caused Evan’s autism. Jenny now says she wants vaccinations better researched — rather than getting rid of them altogether, as she previously promoted. And though her son may never have had autism, Jenny insists, “I’ll continue to be the voice” of the disorder."

Maybe I'm just a mean old skeptic wallowing in my ignorance and arrogance, but shouldn't the "voice of the disorder" NOT be a hypocritical dumbass?

1. She wants vaccines "better researched"
Well considering that fucking moronic ditz doesn't know what the FUCK research is, thats a hoot.
She's dumb and she's done a lot of damage. If I ever met her, I'd be hard pressed not to slap the shit out of her.

2. Personally, I'd like to see the sin theory of disease better researched.
I'm still holding out hope. I've got a whole room full of varkam's Sin-B-Gone tonic ready to go as soon as we get some favorable press.

:D

5. Healed? Why would she want him healed?
Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 05:33 PM by JoeyT
I thought he was an Indigo Child, sent here to guide the earth to a higher...something or another.
You know, all the stuff she carefully scrubbed from her website when she found out she could make a faster buck being an anti-vaxxer.

Edited to add: "MOAR RESEARCH!!!!" is the default fallback position of medical woo when challenged. It's a bullshit position because no matter how much research is done they can shriek that we need more of it. On the other hand, insisting we might want to do some research to see if the woo they're pushing works immediately starts them crying about persecution.
