Poll question: Nintendo DS Vs Sony PSP - what will you be getting? |
|
Which do you intend to get, or which have you already got?

Nintendo's going to have to cut out the porting bullshit if I want a DS. I added it up, and I think I've purchased Super Mario Bros. 3 a grand total of three times. They could get away with the porting on the GBA because they were taking stuff from the SNES (one of the best gaming libraries ever), but the fact that one of the DS' launch titles is Mario 64 is telling me they're going to be porting N64 shit. After Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time and Smash Bros. WTF are they going to come out with? They'll have to start rehasing GCN stuff--there's already supposed to be an Animal Crossing DS. They really, really need some decent third-party support (or some first party innovation), or they're going to fuck around and lose the last market they were strong in. I have a GBA, and the only games I have that aren't ports/remakes of older games are the Castlevanias. Well, and FF Tactics Advance. Everything else is a game I already have on other systems (and in the case of FF Dawn of Souls and the original Zelda, games I've bought like 3 or 4 times).
To the contrary, I'm really, really impressed by the PSP's launch titles so far. There are some tried and true franchises represented but at least they are new installments for the most part, and franchises I really like (like Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers). The only thing that concerns me is the battery life of the PSP, but most of the time I play my portables at home with an AC adapter, or for very short stints on the subway, so that's not really an issue for me.
