WoW. Is there a free trial for this online game? |
|
I'm thinking of joining but I want to try it out before I put down my cold hard cash.
Anyone know if there is a free trial period?

1. Find a friend with the game and their "invite-a-friend" code |
|
You can install the game from their CD's and try it free for 10 days. If you like it you then buy your own copy.
It's nowhere as deep as EQ2 (whose user base is only 1/30 of WoW's), and the rate of content release is much slower, but for all the hype it's still not a bad game.

2. I've seen a two-week trial period advertised online |
|
from what I've heard there have been quite a few problems with the european servers and access of late because of the popularity of the game. Now is a good time to try it out because a lot of players are taking breaks for the summer so the servers aren't quite so full.

3. My only gripe with WOW |
|
is that most of the quests tend to be collection quests. "Go kill 20 of these and 15 of that." Pretty boring, but still I enjoy playing my Priest.

4. Oh, just wait till you get flavors. |
|
Stranglethorn Vale. It's jungle, it's lovely. Filled with animals. They'll ask you to get RABID panthers and all you'll find are SHINY panthers, or whatever adjective you don't need.
Oh god...and collecting pages of a book that every animal has, but not the right page!

6. Green Hills of Stranglethorn, eh? |
|
Here's what I reccomend:
Buy it in the AH, if you really want to complete the quest.
You can grind in STV for a while, and whatever pages you get after you've turned in the quest you can vendor for a few silver, or sell at auction for at least 15s (depending on the server)

5. 2 week free trial on demo disks (PC Gamer, Computer Gaming World) etc. |
|
One very cool thing about the game is you can copy a directory straight onto your hard drive from elsewhere and run it. Same program, I just assume you need the special "trial" login userid/password.
