2. It's The Whip.
It really is. I'm playing the single-player through for the third time. It's a bit short for the money but just right length for me. I often find myself losing interest about 2/3 of the way through most single-player modes but not with GOW. The multi-player is also stellar. PvP modes are sparse but they are very fun, The coolest feature of GOW multi-player is the ability to have a friend join your single-player game at any time and turn it into multi-player co-op. No penalty, no wait, no BS. When your friend's done he/she can just jump back out and you keep going. It's seamless. Not everything is perfect though. The game has it's fair share of annoyances but none of them detract from the overall experience.

3. I just played it on my future in-laws' new HDTV
man, my jaw DROPPED. Never seen HDTV before, much less a game on it. Wow. Too bad I can't afford one.

4. I just signed up for xbox live
and the multiplayer is really fun. Expect to get totally wiped out in your first few games. My advice is to just use your first few matches to check out how the better players are using the environment and go from there. Also, don't bother at first with anything but the lancer - one tip I have against better players using the shotgun is to back up out of effective range of the shotgun while shooting back with the lancer - pretty effective.

6. I played through the single player campaign
I thought it was a solid game, although I think I was expecting a bit more for the 9.6 rating it got at GameSpot. The graphics and gameplay were great, but the story was kinda whatever, and it was pretty short.

But the other day me and a friend started playing through the campaign again on two-player (on Hardcore instead of Casual this time) and it was a LOT of fun. It's the exact same campaign and story, except one of you controls Marcus and the other controls Dom (Dom is rather useless when the AI controls him). It really added a lot to the game.

I tried out the online multiplayer briefly (my free one month Gold membership expired recently so I haven't played it online since) and it was very similar to most other online shooters I've played before: I run around like a headless chicken, someone I can't see shoots me in the back, I die, respawn, and repeat. I guess I need to practice more :)

7. If you re-up your gold memebership
give it another try. The online component is fantastic, once you get past the running around like a headless chicken phase. If you can get into a match with people who actually communicate and work as a team, that's where the co-op really shines.
