Burn Zombie Burn - PS3
So, I downloaded it this morning and what a freaking blast this is to play! It is kind of like the old smash TV but a bit more involved, I'm still trying to figure it all out. It was $10.66 including tax to download, about 160Mb. Graphics are well done, control is perfect, very bloody and an absolute blast to play so far :D Two player co-op (split screen, no online) that I've not tried yet, maybe tonight. I'll give an update later when I've had more time to play but so far, for $10.66 it is well worth it, I can see myself playing this a lot (plus there is supposed to be some DLC later, hopefully free).

1. Level 1 - The Woods
It is a little clearing in the woods, with a cabin in the center. Definitely a nod to Evil Dead. You play as Bruce (of course) and in 'Free Play' mode, you have three lives and have to kill as many zombies as you can. They regenerate in waves, more and more each wave and the waves comes fast. You have two weapons, what ever you pick up is default and holding R2 gives you a torch. The torch will light them on fire and for every zombie on fire, your score is multiplied. 5 zombies on fire, score x5, 20 zombies on fire, score x20. I've had as many as 70 on fire at a time, in the first level :D Zombies on fire move faster and can hit you, zombies not on fire will catch fire and not hit you. So, the strategy seems to be stay alive and let zombies accumulate on screen, light them on fire and kill. You have to time it right, sometimes the zombies explode after being on fire for a bit (can kill you in your too close). I like using the chainsaw, it appears either in the middle or lower left corner, spin in a circle and just mow'em down, hahahahahahaha, its a lot of fun!

I don't like how it keeps your high scores. It looks like they show the top 100 (worldwide, I assume, it does not say) for each level/mode with your personal high at the bottom (if your not in the top 100 which looks hard to get into already). I would really rather it also let me see top scores just for my machine but it does not. At the end of each game, it shows a pretty decent stats board, my only beef with it is that it shows everything in bar graph without numbers. It kind of tells you what weapons (8 kinds of weapons) you favored that round and what kind of zombies you've killed (10 kinds of zombies) but I'm not sure I get the context on the graphs in relation to my score. Yeah, I know, more is better but I can be a stat junkie and since they have the numbers to make the graph, show me the damn numbers!

Still, wicked fun!

2. OK, last word on this game...
Unless there are specific questions :P

If you have a PS3, get this game! It is definitely old school in play and it is not a very big game but... The game play is freakin awesome, it looks beautiful, waaaaay more depth then you would expect (the more I play the more it almost feels like a real time tactical game), tons of 'unlock-ables' and only ten bucks.

3. I've considered it.
I would if I didn't already have enough to play, I think. Sounds like it's worth it, so I'm sure I'll get to it eventually.

That's just typical. x(

5. I don't have my ps3 hooked up to the net yet.
I got it only a little while ago, and since my apartment is so shitty, it's going to be hard to run a cable to it. I'm also not wireless.

Gotta get it hooked up...I'm interested to see what sort of downloadable content there is.

6. Before you start some games, get hooked to the net
I was not hooked to the net for the first two months I had my PS3 and when I did, I was annoyed. It will update the PS3 software, no big deal but it may update games you have as well. It updated my GTA4 and being the completionist type of guy I am, I had to start over (was 70% done) so I could get the trophies that were now available.

They have a bunch of game trailers, demo's, free DLC and pay DLC. The game trailers can be cool but are really no different then what you could find on your PC. The demo's are... well demo's, just a taste of the game. Free DLC is always cool, I like having stuff added to my games (as long as it does not screw up what I've already done!). The pay DLC is generally cheap, a few bucks and most of what I've seen or read about is exactly what you expect for a few bucks, not much. I really do like being able to see world rankings though, see where I stack up :D I got COD:Modern Warfare about a year or more after it was released. It tracks three things world wide, score, wins and kills. I started out brand new in over 3 millionth place and in about a month and a half, for score, I'm about 1,220,000th place, wins about 870,000th place and kills, 1,235,000th place. heh, I love looking at the rankings after a playing session to see where I've gotten to now :D
