Holy shit.

I've wanted to play Bioshock for a long time, but my comp sucked too bad. I got a ps3 and a high def tv....DAMN! Awesome game, I just finished beating it.

So far, I've played and passed all the games I've bought for the PS3 - Bioshock, Ratchet and Clank, and Orange Box. All of them had awesome gameplay and graphics, but bioshock was the best.

Now I'm going to try to find a game that was just as fun.

1. Hie thyself out to thy local game store and get
Dead Space.

Oh, and hide the kids. Dead Space is "Rated 'M' for Mature" for bloody good reason.

Oh, look- a pun.

--------

Another favorite Bioshock moment:

Steinman, I know Medical Pavillon is your manor, but you might want to cogitate on this: ocean water is colder than a witch's tit. You don't heat the pipes, the pipes freeze. Pipes freeze, pipes burst. Then Rapture leaks. Now, I realize you're a posh sort of geezer, and, frankly, I don't give a toss if you piss or go fishing. But once Rapture starts leaking, the old girl's never gonna stop. And then I'll be sure to tell Ryan he's got you to thank.

But yes, Steinman's opening monologue prior to the fight with him is probably one of the best lead-ins to a boss fight I've ever seen in a video game. He's sooo obviously batshit insane by that point, and his little speech just kind of drives it home.

2. Okay, I'm a little short of cash this month, so I can only get one game.
Here are my first choices:

1)Deadspace

2)Fallout 3

3)Call of Duty 4

4)Grand Theft Auto 4.

If you had to get one, which one would you get?

4. Urgh. You're on a PS3, yes?

See, the thing about Fallout 3 us that it's really best played on a PC, because the PC version has the editor and the ability to install mods that do everything from revamp the Pip-Boy interface, to adding new skins for weapons, characters, and items, to a full graphical facelift. If your PC can't handle Fallout 3, scratch it off your list for your PS3 purchases, because you'll miss out on a ton of free stuff for the game itself. Get it for the PC after you get a PC with more power under the hood.

Among the other three, I'd say it's a toss-up between Dead Space and GTA4. If you want to know more about Dead Space, take a look at my Dead Space thread, and watch a few videos on Google. It's survival horror, and thus not for everyone.

I've heard lots of positive things about CoD4 and GTA4, but I haven't actually played either of them.

Of course, you could also just wait for Prototype. That'll be a zero-day purchase for me....

7. Man, I don't think I can wait. I've played the other two fallouts and have been waiting
a longtime to play number 3. Considering I'm getting married next year, and saving money for it, I doubt I will get a new comp for two years. Hell, maybe more since I migh be going back to school.

I can't wait that long!

8. My thoughts and recommendation
Don't get me wrong, its an awesome game, I love it but... The most play value comes from the online multi-player, I've spent almost all of my time on COD 4: Modern Warfare playing online and it is about to pretty much die off. This fall, they are releasing COD: Modern Warefare 2 - Same developer (I forget their name off the top of my head) and I expect most players will move to the new game. If the first one was dirt cheap, I'd say go get it but the damn thing is still $50+ new and $30+ used. Save it for another purchase and get the new one at a later time.

I've not played Dead Space, so no comment.

Fallout 3 is awesome and massive.... really massive. I'd wait on this one also though. They are soon making all of the additional DLC available and getting it online will cost $9.99 each for the five different parts. At the end of the year, they are going to release to stores, a massive pack with the original game and all of the DLC. I don't know the pricing but it will almost certainly be cheaper then buying the game now, plus the additional $50 for the DLC.

so.... by process of elimination, I suggest GTA4 :D Great game. If you've played any of the others, you know what to expect game play wise. Personally, I think it is the best story they have done to date.

Good luck!

10. And it stuck in his frakking head...
Insane Alternate Ayn Rand mother fucker he was...

I expect something at the end of Bioshock 2 letting us know he still lives...his ego would not let him die. He's just too epic of a villain...

Now Fontaine...he's dead...ain't nothing bringing that mook back.

11. I *so* cheated in that last boss fight.
Here's a hint: he always lands in the same place, and electric bolt traps can be targeted very precisely.

13. Three more
I'm not really the best person to recommend games these days, since I tend not to have the patience to finish them (the last one I finished was Portal, which is short enough and awesome enough to play through in one sitting). But, on the PS3:

If you like JRPGs, Valkyria Chronicles is quite fun, and you could sink a lot of time into it. On the other hand, some people will find a re-imagining of WWII with cutesy anime characters irritating.

Mirror's Edge has some original and exhilarating gameplay. I did eventually get stuck and give up in disgust, though, and I can see why some people hate it. With my knees, it's the only way I'll ever get to experience parkour. A good candidate for renting.

Little Big Planet is a very original puzzle-platformer with bags of charm. It probably stands or falls depending on the user-created content online, so I ought to fire it up again and see how things have moved on, but I certainly had some hilarious sessions online not long after release. It's a game for half an hour of light-hearted fun, rather than lengthy obsessive sessions with the lights off (that'd be Dead Space).

14. I rented Mirror's Edge.......beat it in a couple of sittings.
I loved it.

Also rented Little Big planet....it was fun, but I think it was sort of over-hyped.

16. Yes, LBP was over-hyped
But that's the PS3 for you: they're desperate for bit hits.

15. I bought GTA 4. Awesome game.
Controls could be better, I guess, but I love the graphics, story and gameplay.
