1. I played it for quite a bit.

I never played a character past level 25 though.

There was something about those newbie zones that was just so charming and comfortable. I usually always based at the tree city and hunted Crushbone because it was such a social area.

I'm glad I gave it up. Luckily my machine can't handle EQ2 or I'd probably end up playing that at some point.

A DU EQ group might be fun, but I don't know if I want to start up again. I really don't have time to play more than 2 nights a week so it probably wouldn't be worth it.

3. I signed up for the EQ beta, and decided within a day to avoid it

It really is like crack. I read an article a few years ago about someone in Korea, IIRC, who had literally starved to death while playing EverQuest for 86 hours straight. That's just not healthy.

People I talked to during the beta had been hooked to the game for days. Particularly telling was the realm of the Wood Elves, in which everyone was training in the treehouse to become The Greatest Ranger To Walk The Land, Attuned To The Forces Of Nature. So I logged off the game, put down the mouse, went outside and took a walk through the neighborhood park.

Reality is underrated.
