Poll question: How many of you guys are "wealthy"?
I'm asking because evidently only fundamentalists and "wealthy people" homeschool their children.

so:

1. We do have the McMansion, but that's because that's the house we ..
ended up with (they were all big around here - we WERE out in the countryside); but we are putting solar panels up (pool is already run on solar), and have great reduced our energy costs.

We drive two hybrids (getting 45-51 MPG), and teach Beloved Daughter about social responsibility. We do have a truck to use for certains situations.

We run several computer-related businesses out of the home, and the school; so, the extra room helps.

Boy, is that a stereotype that we are going to have to correct.

I see the middle-class moms driving all the way up to our charter school's library to get resources (books, globes, etc.); they are very dedicated. I'm very lucky; I'm right down the street from "the warehouse."

A toast to my fellow homeschoolers!

:toast:

3. HeeHee.
I did.

I just wanted to acknowledge that we do come from a variety of backgrounds.

4. Ask me next month!
PS, if we'd not had choice to send our daughters to private schools, I might have (tho schools and teachers we found really were excellent, and I'd never have the patience to do the job well.)

5. We're somewhere in between struggling a little and struggling a lot.
Depends on which direction the wind is blowing.

6. We do ok, but part of that is we were older parents to start with
so we are farther along in our careers. Most of my friends who homeschool make big sacrifices to do it. None of them are religious fanatics. It is an academic or lifestyle choice. But I guess I am preaching to the choir here....

7. Yep; you're preaching to the choir!
We're older parents also, and we've built up some savings. That helps.
