I'll probably get ticked off; Hubby will just tell me to ignore it.
Uh-oh; I can't even access it.
It must have been a really bad one.
Hang in there.
After 2-1/2 years, I'm certain that I made the best decision for Beloved Daughter, now 12-1/4. She views herself as a very successful student. That never would have happened had we continued in the conventional classroom.
There are all sorts of side benefits, too. Neither one of us has to worry about our kid getting cuffed because of what they wear, or for accidentally bringing a plastic knife to school.
And, my kid has a hot, nutritional meal, EVERY DAY.

There are two many threads with ignorant posts, and both of us have better things to do with our time than to fight this (like making sure our kids get a good education).
It's just ridiculous that this is allowed. This type of bias shows how ignorant many are. Well, they'd better pay attention to the education their children are getting now. You and I work with curriculum every day. Have they noticed, for example, how little of the curriculum is devoted to the evolution of the planet and evolution of bipedalism and humans? I doubt it. We spent a month on it (the BBC series and www.brainpop.com are good places to start).
In any case, I've enhanced the recommended state curriculum a great deal. I have tools at my disposal that most classroom teachers do not have. I hope that parents are paying attention to how well their children's skills are being developed. Otherwise, our future is not looking very promising at the moment.
Thanks for trying, Ma'am.
I did, also, for awhile.

nor did I when my kids were young, but I do support you people in your efforts.
The only problem I have ever had with homeschooling was seeing the "morans" doing it. The ones who wouldn't know a grammatically correct sentence if it jumped up and bit their heads off.
The ones who don't know the difference between "their", "there", and "they're".
What's even more scary, though, is that it's not just the ignorant who are homeschooling. Some of these people are actually in the school systems teaching our children!!!
Just for an example, I knew (via another discussion board) a woman who was a school teacher in Texas. This woman fit all the worst stereotypes of the "moran" character. Nice enough as a person, but she couldn't spell and could hardly string coherent thoughts together.
This person was teaching young children.
In a school.
Many idiots have come out of the schools, and many very bright and well-informed people have been homeschooled, or self-taught.
Keep up the good work
:)

8. Thanks for your support. |

Yes, it's dangerous to generalize.
Hubby and I have two Bachelor's degrees, three Master's degrees, and two doctorates between us, so we pretty much "get" the educational drill.
The material and textbooks (recommended by the state, and, many times, designed by the finest teachers) really make it easy to go forward.
Again, thanks for the kind words and support.
(P.S. I'm not surprised about the teacher, however. When my kid was in 4th grade, we wound up in a meeting with her teachers. When I asked, "What am I getting for my money?," they replied, "The benefit of our education." It was a private school that operated just like the public school. When they said that, Hubby and I just laughed. Each of them barely had a Bachelor's degree. Finally, we just left and went into this program, and have been happy ever since.)

9. In addition to making ignorant assertions about homeschoolers, |

I don't understand why those people are getting their panties in a twist about something an obnoxious teenager said.
