It was on television when I was around 6 to 8 years old. 1964 to 1966 or in that range.

The film involved a female artist that was trapped behind the Berlin Wall, leaving behind her husband and very young, maybe an infant, daughter.

Years later the woman escapes and is introduced to daughter as "friend" of father. They tell the girl her mother had been friends with her.

The girl asks for portrait of her mother; apparently there were no photos of her. The girl has fight with 'friend' and tells her to go away, she hates her.

Finally, the girl sees the portrait and knows the 'friend' is her mother and runs after her.

I will appreciate any help you can give. It has bugged me for years, never saw a rerun of it either. I was fairly young when I saw it so my interpretation may be skewed a bit.

Thank you much!

1. I belive it's "Never Say Goodbye."
I saw that one on TV too, and remembered that the little girl was played by a famous child actress, and that her character was called Susie or Suzy and her mother was Lisa.

But I didn't have a title, and IMDB keywords just didn't work. But Google did, eventually. Have a look:

I need to read more in this forum. When I had tv, TCM was one of my favorite channels. One of the very, very few things I have missed about tv.

5. Partial viewing via YouTube.
There are three segments of the film on YouTube, 1, 3, and 5 -- not a complete set! But at least it's a start...

Part 1:

Just search for Never Say Goodbye 1956.
