For frugal living - check out the recipes |

in the Cooking group right here at DU. Some of the recipes and cooking hints look good, and many cost little per serving.

2. Thanks For The Tip & Let's Hear It For OATMEAL! |
|
My fave cheapo winter breakfast which I am having right now even though it's already 75 degrees and sunny here in El-Lay!
I like to put it in the microwave and if you have dried fruit throw that in too (dried apples are great in this) and I'll admit liking the sinful extras -- butter, brown sugar and walnuts.

3. Hurray for oatmeal! And a big hurrah for grits too! |
|
Especially the whole grain grits with the corn germ intact. Yum, yum.

4. i add cinnamon & raisins |
|
to my otherwise "straight from the canister" oatmeal.
raisins to make it sweet & cinnamon because it helps lower cholesterol & regulate blood sugar. :)
btw, i loaded up on cinnamon at dollar tree....$1/bottle & it's from canada. what's weird is i think it tastes better than mccormick....
