I had a huge fight with my boyfriend last night about Obama. It was about the General Clark thing.
I told him I'm voting for Obama in Nov but that doesn't mean I can't question some of the things he does and says. He all but called me racist and questioned my loyalty to the dem party.
This morning we barely spoke, and now this faith-based crap.
I don't know how much more of this I can take.

1. This whole thing is so emotionally charged and difficult. |
|
They've really got us at each-others throats this time, don't they?
Here is a hug for you and hoping things come back together nicely between you two.
Open discussion on all of this is very important.

This whole election cycle is making life difficult and dividing instead of uniting people. For a long time, I think my husband supported Obama. He was quiet about it because it would lead to a ferocious rant on my part. Now, I think he's seen the light. Stand your ground, Beaverhausen. A life lived without principles is a life wasted.
((((hugs)))

 this has been a long, drawn out process. I hope that the two of you can get past this, but you do need to ask him if he supports every politician that has a D by their name. The D doesn't always mean that they are a "good Democrat" - Zell Miller and Lieberbutt come to mind.

Someone who claims to "love" you, calling you a racist?
I wonder if the problems are deeper than politics...?
You don't deserve that, and unless this society starts supporting each other rather than trying to drive each other down, we're all gonna be on suicide watch.

10. Thanks everyone. Things are better today |

We agreed that we simply can't talk about Obama and neither of us are happy about it. We both want the best for our country, and we are both very passionate people. We also are passionate about each other and while we aren't happy we don't agree on these issues, it's best for our relationship to try to let them alone.
I'm so glad I have this little corner to retreat to.

 and :hi:
I rarely post anymore but think of "times gone by" a lot. I'm more cynical than I ever thought I would be and have pretty much expunged myself from all politics and news for some time now. Just thought I would give a peek on this day, the 4th of July. Unfortunately the day holds little meaning to me since this country doesn't seem like the America I once knew.
Yes, I AM nothing more than a quitter! I just couldn't take it anymore!
Kudos to all of you who have held strong!

18. Hey Andrea... As You Can See, My Political Input Is Quite Measly And I'm Not Sure |
|
what it's going to take to re-kindle my interest. I haven't watched ANY MSM in about 6 weeks to 2 months. There was a time when I posted many many times a day, now I check in here maybe once a week, and that's only recently. I have signed up "over there" but I'm experiencing feelings of remorse and it's difficult to jump back in. Some would call it depression but that's not what it is. I'm too weary and fed up with what I see going on with the endless nit-picking and back stabbing. I peeked today to see if anything had changed with MSM, but if anything it's worse! I did hear someone talking about Joe Biden as a serious VP pick and that WOULD pull me back as he was my 2nd choice. We shall see.
I just check in here from time to time and see that many are still hanging around. It's nice to see. Guess I need more time. I was considering putting a question out about how people are feeling about Obama these days since it seems from what I've heard today that he's moving more to the right. I don't want to sit here and read hundreds of blogs, but I am curious. Since I have no dog in the fight I wouldn't have to answer questions. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.
But thanks for the invite, I know you guys are really a GREAT BUNCH, but I'm just dipping my toes back into the waters for now. I could go on about my feelings, but I'm sure many are feeling the same way as I.
Keep kicking it up!!!
:kick: :loveya: ALL!

Many, many people are feeling the same as you. I've been seeing a lot of worry over Obama's hard right turn - and justifiably so in my opinion. There are a lot of people trying to figure out what to do. We've all been through a lot. It has been heartbreaking, frustrating and frightening. Each of us needs to do whatever we can/need to do to heal from this and move forward. Take of yourself, Chici!

BTW, I made a mistake... I thought you were talking about EENR, but I see you DO HAVE an Old Elm Tree. I'll check it out soon, and THANKS AGAIN my friend!

13. I know. I have several friendships that have broken up over this. The demand is that |
|
when I say I will vote for Obama, they insist I do it enthusiastically. It took a lot to make myself resoved to vote for Obama"anyway" but appartently for some it isn't enough. Now they want me to be quiet about policy positions as well.

Sometimes, being crazy has its advantages. :)
Also, my friends are smart enough to realize they can't follow me into the voting booth, let alone my own head. If yours (and those of anyone reading here) are not...well, fuck 'em. But first, let 'em know they are not helping Barack by behaving so foolishly.

It might sound kind of funny, but I love it when people argue politics. It means they care about something bigger than themselves.
Good luck. Take a day and try to be good to each other.
