Whoever did the research in the Hillsborough "neighborhood" and elsewhere is completely clueless, certainly about the area. The concept of hanging out at the Saratoga Grill while avoiding members of the legal community defies simple logic; the Saratoga Grill is directly across the street from the Orange County Court House in The TOWN of Hillsborough. It is a nice place, but very very public with a large contingent from the legal community at lunch and after court.
It is plausible that EE might be considering moving back into Chapel Hill, proper, and looking at East Franklin Street (where they looked before building) or Meadowmont (where they lived while building) would be obvious guesses. But Meadowmont has NEVER been compared with Wisteria Lane/"Desparate Housewives" -- not by anyone, anywhere! Amazing! Since it is a large, planned development, there were some early comparisons with Stepford but I can assure you there is nothing Stepford-like in the behavior of the ladies in Meadowmont. I live there, it is a interesting group; and while there certainly must be a vew Volvos in the neighborhood, I can't think of one offhand and did not see any earlier today when I looked.
It seems obvious that most people around here just want to let the Edwardses deal with these many issues in whatever way works best for them and to repectfully keep our distance. The article has less news than me writing something like:
"Saw EE the other night at dinner. Reminded that I hadn't seen JE lately, probably keeping his head down until the grand jury under Holding shuts down. Maybe he and the kids are down at the coast. Certainly the weather for it. Or maybe they've gone on a trip somewhere else now that school's out."
While I might say something like that in private to one of you, it would not be the basis for an expose on his "exile".
The one issue where the article is fairly accurate (concerning the Federal grand jury, et al), it is almost identical to what I and others had posted during the previous two months prior to the article, at DU, salon.com, wral.com, and elsewhere. Hardly any great insight, though an important aspect of the whole story.
Wisteria Lane! Wisteria in CH is several miles from Meadowmont.

3. A piece of trivia on Meadowmont |
|
The house the Edwardses rented in Meadowmont, when they were building their house out from Chapel Hill, has been for sale recently by a relocation company. I noticed it recently went under contract. No, I don't see any connection with the Edwardses. Just want to head off any gossip.
