1. I know. I came here looking for safety. They're shooting guns in the air in GDP.
Maybe we can gather the good Edward supporters here, where it's quiet. No gloating.

2. It's not over...
CNN is projecting third, but they don't say yet how close it is between 2nd and 3rd. If it's close, it's still good news for John.

I'm not spinning this, I wanted first or second bad. But in a media atmosphere that had him complete written off one week ago, just staying in the race and being competitive is a win for us.

Absolutely sick.

I see Edwards winning so many polls, but not the votes.

WTF is the matter with people?

I'm very surprised at the number so far. On a positive note John has been running at around 20% which is not chopped liver with 23% of the votes in.

10. All this proves is what we've known all along.
The media is electing our next President for us, and the majority of Americans are:

1. Too lazy
2. Too stupid
3. Too selfish

to see what is going on.

Almost since Edwards announced, he's gotten very little coverage compared to Clinton and Obama. When complaints started growing louder and louder, the media threw us a couple of crumbs.

Letterman. Banks. Olbermann. And suddenly, all is better! Just enough to get us to shut up, but not enough to really make any difference.

America at large is so interested in electing the first woman or first black President, they aren't considering whether either is the best for the job.

But hey, what the heck...the media tells us this is BIG BIG BIG so it must be, right?

I fear this is all working out according to plan.

Barack will become a bigger sensation than he is, then we'll find out more about Rezko, or he'll be indicted, or something, and suddenly we're left with Hillary. And nothing is guaranteed to get out the GOP vote like Hillary Clinton.

We should all practice saying "President McCain" because that's what we're going to end up with, I'm afraid.

The media should just call it now, and save us all the grief.

Sorry, not an uplifting post, but I'll have to gather my thoughts again.

(I am beginning to understand how it's possible for parents to forget about and leave their babies to die in hot cars all day, though.) :(

12. This IS depressing. Imagine how John and Elizabeth must feel tonight.
:( I had hoped for a MUCH better showing for John in SC than what's been reported so far. My hubby just said he's come up a bit in the past hour or so, though. He's still my candidate and I WILL vote for him in the CA primary on the 5th. Just wish this was better news. Something seems horribly WRONG here.

37. John is probably doing better than we are
He's not in it for the politics, he in it for us. I can't believe those people who think there is no difference between the 3 candidates. I guess there isn't if it won't effect you. Too bad for you, we got ours, kind of crap really gets old.

I feel like I'm fighting for my life. My son wants me to forget about politics because I'm not sleeping. But, how can you forget, when you life never seems to get any better no matter how hard you work.

38. I hear you, zalinda.
I feel MUCH the same as you. We ARE fighting for our lives, and John knows that. He understands. Yeah, I see these "I got mine, screw you" types all the time. Yep, it gets old fast. I'm tired, tired, tired of struggling. I want to see some improvement in our lives.

You know... John and I are the same age (54), and I also grew up in the South. I know exactly what he's talking about, what he says he's seen, what he grew up with. I've not been as successful as John in my own life, but I understand his roots, and I know that he wants me--and you--to have just as much of a chance to succeed in whatever we choose to do in our lives as he did. Someone who never had to struggle just cannot possibly have the same point of view. They may try, they may say they understand, and at some level they may, but personal experience is the greatest teacher of all. I love John for who he is. And I trust him to do what is best for US--the people no one else is speaking up for. Because he knows.

I'm sticking with him, no matter what. I want him to make it to the convention, so that he can finish what he started. You're right. It's not for HIM. He's doing this for US. Because of that, he has my loyalty and my support all the way to Denver, and with a more than a little luck, maybe even on to the White House. For whatever may come: Full steam ahead!

19. Tsk, tsk, your singing my song
Should I go back to GDP, with my metaphorical swords drawn and take no prisoners?

CJP is a warrior. It's what I do.

F Obamites. They are a sickeningly vapid crowd who fall for the obvious superficialities. Obama has to be one of the most calculating manipulators I have ever seen. I have to believe the fix is in with the fixer Rezko as well. After all, if Obama gets in the W.H., can you say, Presidential Pardon?

Anyway, I can only hope for a brokered convention and the mask being pulled off Obama....soon. I can't take the insipid posters I know by rote now:

Frenchie
Caltechteacherguy
Cali
Wolsh
Occam Bandage
et al. ad nauseum.

I fight them often and give no quarter.

Time to go back to fight the good fight.

Later gang.....

21. I'm right there with you
I just got off work and went straight for MSNBC so I could see the news. How can polls be so wrong about who people are voting for. I just don't understand.

I will be with John through the triumphant or bitter end. My problem is I just don't know what I will do if the worst happens.

I have made myself one promise. If John Edwards isn't our nominee, I will hold my nose and vote for whoever is, but I promise you I will hold their feet to the fire. If they give in, or crumble, or don't fulfill any of their campaign promises, they won't see a second term in office. It will be my mission in life to oppose them and see that someone who gives a damn about this country takes their place.

22. The polling told us in advance about the outcome.
What the polling didn't say is how effective this campaign has been, and how many accumulative delegates we're gaining.

We show up in Denver as true players.

Go, John Edwards.

23. I was wishing for better, but
I'm thinking this isn't all bad. Obama did really well here, as expected. This knocks Hillary down a good bit. Other states are coming up in which he won't do so well. They will keep pounding away at each other and John will keep taking the high road. We already know it can't be decided until after Super Tuesday. That gives us more time for his message to get out. The more people see the other two bickering while John tried to talk issues, the better for us. Time is on our side...

24. Here is how I see it...
Please don't get mad at me...This is just what is going through my head right now. I am thinking about the GE and who will win. Most likely the GOP candidate will be McCain. Obviously John Edwards would win, hands down. If he is not in GE or looking like he will be in GE then some other considerations are running through my head. Will Obama win against Mc Cain? Will Hillary win against Mc Cain?
Not voting at all, gives "blow em' all up" McCain the vote? Does it really matter any more, the powerful have already got the whole thing set-up? This is all running through this crazy head of mine.

1. We can stay with John and he will now start to win because of the recent media attention.

2. We can stay with John all the way (if he doesn't win any states)
a. gives decider votes to Hillary
b. gives decider votes to Obama (most likely going Obamas direction.... I think, in other words votes for change are not going in
Hillarys direction)

I am hesitant about Obama because of the health question I had, and wanting clarification. I could easily continue to vote for JRE even if it doesn't look bright, and thus casting my vote towards Obama if I had this clarification. I am hesitant about voting for Hillary because I don't trust her, Bill and George Sr. to buddy buddy during these last 8 years.

I am just sounding off....FRUSTRATED NOW! Need feedback please (from JRE supporters only)

When you say, "I am hesitant about Obama because of the health question I had...", what do you mean? Do you have a question about his health? I have not heard anything about him having health problems. Or, do you mean a question about his health care package?

27. He made a statement .....
During the RGJ interview, I have called Obama camp to get it clarified 4 days in a row and several emails, no answer. He basically stated, We are going to have to make difficult choices, in terms of end of life care. I posted a couple of times on GDP. Anyway, I am a nurse and wanted to know what he meant. Euthanasia, increase hospice services, cut services, PT/OT? I want to know what he meant.
Nobody calls me back to tell me. I am not sure what to think.

33. some thoughts
Wish I could sit down with everyone here face to face tonight. Maybe someday.

- Neither Clinton nor Obama is likely to win the election. Very remote. Even if either of them should win, there is no way that they can even slow the right wing juggernaut down.

- Yes, the "powerful have already got the whole thing set-up" as you say.

- Don't worry about how you are going to vote. That isn't where the battle is.

- We have the Edwards candidacy, and then we have the Edwards following. The Edwards following is not invalidated by anything that happens to the Edwards candidacy. It is real, it is growing, it will continue to grow.

- The supporters of the other candidates have these goals - to discourage you and to get you to shut up. They can't do either without your cooperation.

- The hard core Democratic party people, those who control the primaries and are most likely to vote, are the hardest people to work with in the country and the most resistant to the Edwards mesage. I would much rather promote Edwards to an assembly hall full of everyday Republican voters, then to tackle a dozen Democratic party activists, and I would have more success with those Republicans.

<- This guy here. I'm with him until he says he's out. If I have to vote in November, it'll be Demo, but if it's Hillary I may not. Not vote at all, that is. The freedom we crow about lets me choose NOT to vote - consequences be damned. I have to live inside this carcass and that means being at ease with my innards. This race has clarified my vision of Washington DC (Thank you John!) and principle's gonna be front and center in how I interact with it from now on.

Anyway, John's hangin' tough and so am I. I just sold a car project that I had here, so John will get another C-note from me. He's gonnna need cash to keep our dream alive.

Hugs all around for my friends here. I love you guys. :grouphug:
