Does this remind anyone of another incident...?
in Los Angeles...? Involving a minority/man of color...?

FBI Investigates Violent LAPD Arrest
(CBS) LOS ANGELES Two Los Angeles police officers were under investigation day for allegedly beating a man during a "disturbing"
videotaped arrest in Hollywood in August, police Chief William Bratton said.

The video, posted on the popular YouTube Web site, shows Officer Alexander Schlegel holding down William Cardenas, 23, as Officer Patrick Farrell places his knee on the man's neck and punches his face with a fist six
times during the Aug. 11 scuffle near the intersection of Gordon Street and Fountain Avenue.

Cardenas is seen struggling with the officers while lying on his back, trying to yell, "I can't breathe."

"There's no denying that the video is disturbing," Bratton said during a news conference at the Los Angeles Police Department's downtown dispatch center.

"But as to whether the actions of the officers were appropriate in light of what they were experiencing and the totality of the circumstances is what the investigation will determine," he said

2. What kind of training teaches that punching someone in the face
will help subdue them ? Maybe he was initially involved in a chase but by the time he was on the ground he was much calmer than I or most people would be in those circumstances. That is not how one struggles if they're trying to escape. Any gang member with the rap sheet they claim he had would've know to move around differently if they were simply trying to escape. Absolutely nothing warrants what happened.

4. No training I could imagine.

I have a visceral reaction to that tape. It's vile and disturbing.:scared::cry:

Given the race of all involved it bothers me all the more. For me, it's like watching the horrible footage of helpless blacks being hosed down, pre-civil rights. They are being hosed and pushed by the force of the water, across streets--flying helplessly,...powerless. Yet another example of a caucasian male, asserting their authority over the already subdued minority.:mad::cry:

Why is this still happening? Did Rodney King teach them nothing? :banghead:

5. And much like pre-civil rights
there's a good old boys network still actively protecting and bending over backwards defending to making excuses for the people committing these atrocities.

As long as they can get away with this they will

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrencia_Bembenek

She's always claimed she was framed by the police dept. she once worked for because she "blew the whistle" on cops in her department that participated in an incident of public nudity and drunkeness (in a park with children around, etc.).

The women of Enron--who blew the whistle and found themselves jobless and challenged with claims they were 'crazy,' etc.

Case of black man who died from his injuries after he was beaten by police in Ohio. Apparently, he was really scary--he lunged at the police--forcing them to beat the hell out of him. :sarcasm:

Interesting how they always provide a laundry list of what the one helpless person did to "deserve" to be beaten or to have their credibility second guessed, and in some cases destroyed (Lawrencia Bembenek case for example). :eyes:
