ANACOCO, La. — The soldier stationed at Fort Polk grew up with seven brothers and sisters, all much older than he was. Now he's found a sister 14 years younger.

James Marshall, 22, and Cynthia Parker, 8, were adopted by different families.

"James has found a little something that was always missing in his life and Cynthia has discovered a part of herself in a brother (who) had always missed her, even before he knew about her," said Cynthia's father, James Parker of Anacoco.

Marshall, adopted when he was about two months old by a family in Call, Texas, in Newton County, always knew he was different. His siblings were all so much older, and his skin was olive, a shade or two darker than theirs.

His questions culminated with a dinner table discussion with his parents when he was nine. They confirmed that he'd been adopted.
