Inaccurate Claim on Assault on Reason in Washington Post
An op ed in the Washington Post claims that Gore has no references to his facts in The Assault on Reason and alleges that the book is inaccurate.

Apparently there is one Lincoln quote that Lincoln might not have actually said (something I find quite frequently wit quotes). However, not only does Gore have references at the back of his book, he gives a specific reference to this quote.

I thought Gore supporters might want to see this and go after this false claim. Even if later scholars showed that the published Lincoln quote was not accurate, it is a far greater error for the columnist to claim Gore has no references.

I have a post on this at Liberal Values with the specifics:

1. To The Washington Post
"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference." The Inner Life of Abraham Lincoln: Six Months at the White House by Francis B. Carpenter (University of Nebraska Press, Lincoln, Nebraska, 1995), pp. 258-259.

They know there are references, they're just playing the game.
