Gore wins 2007 Gothenburg Award on Sustainable Development
Gore Wins 2007 Gothenburg Sustainable Development Award

GOTENBORG, Sweden, September 11, 2007 (ENS) - Above all others, Al Gore has called humanity to save the climate, said the jury for the Gothenburg Award on Sustainable Development, choosing the former U.S. vice president to receive the award for 2007. Gore has "has called humanity to a deeper understanding of our serious situation – and what politicians, executives and all of us can and must do," the jury said.

"The heat is growing, our Planet Earth has got fever," said the jury. "Already this gives rise to extreme weather with drought, cloudburst, hurricanes and misery to hundreds of millions of people. Global warming might dismantle the world economy - if we fail to put a stop to it!"

The Gothenburg Award on Sustainable Development 2007, one million Swedish kronor (US$144,000) aims to "stimulate and encourage strategic work for national and international sustainable development."

The Award was founded by the City of Gothenburg and several interested companies. It is distributed by the city together with Andra AP-fonden, Carl Bennet AB, Elanders AB, Eldan Recycling, Folksam, Götaverken Miljo, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Peab, Schenker AB, SKF, Stena Metall AB. This is the eighth Gothenburg Award.

3. Got it from the RSS feed from the Al Gore hub
My old computer went belly up and I downloaded Foxfire as my browser. Thanks to SharonRB I subscribed to the Gore hub rss feed. It's a great place to find Gore news.

btw, I finally got my e-mail straightened out and for the first time in almost a year I have reliable e-mail (don't ask, it involves two blown transformers, electrical surges and blown out equipment, not to mention the state and IRS audits - if I were paranoid I'd suspect the NSA.) Did I mention that our house almost caught fire last month and that my car caught fire this morning and is totaled?.

6. I always wanted to live an exciting life
Now I just want one that's a little more predictable. No one was hurt. I was taking the dogs going out for our morning run when the car started acting funky. I got half a block from home before the car caught fire (leaky gas line). I got the dogs out and got them home before the fire really took off. I managed to save the German Shepherd's favorite stick. It was on the backseat with her and she left it when she got out of the car. It's weird. She was so happy to see it that it put everything else into perspective. I'm grateful to have good friends, a pretty decent family, a wonderful husband and the brains to appreciate it all.

Now, back to important things like getting Gore to run.
