The article says that Current boasts 51 million paying subscribers and is "aimed at giving a voice to the average person who has not had a way to break into the conversation of democracy on television," said Gore, who is the network's chairman.

I hope it is the reporter who made the stupid leap from this -> Current is now viewed in the U.S. and U.K. in more than 51 million households through distribution partners Comcast, Time Warner, DirecTV, Dish Network, Sky and Virgin Media Cable. to this -> Current TV boast 51 million paying subscribers.

Just because Current TV is on cable systems that reach 51 million household DOES NOT mean that CurrentTV has 51 million paying subscribers. The last time I saw this way of describing subscribers was in a FOX News lawsuit -- Al Franken does a comedy piece about how the judge and everyone in the courtroom burst out laughing when FOX claimed it had a 100 million paying subscribers just because FOX is on cable systems that feed into 100 million households.
