Asking for some words....
I am about to have to let go of my 16 year old Cocker Spaniel. He has been my constant companion for all of his 16 years. He came to me when he was 8 weeks old.

I would am looking for something to say over him when he goes, to help him through his journey. This is a new journey for me and I am a little lost.

1. Try here

My sympathies. I've had to put down two of my cats - one was my familiar - and I still miss them. Even getting two more kitties, whom I love like crazy, doesn't really reduce the sting.

3. Goodness...
I just wanted to acknowledge your post and let you know I honor what you're both going through.

I lost my 17-year-old and 11-year-old babies within four weeks of one another, suddenly and unexpectedly, and I'm still reeling.

4. I am so sorry for your loss
so far, my cocker is holding on. As a matter of fact over the last few days he has perked up. He even went for a walk with me to the mail box. He hasn't wanted to do that in a long time. I know he is saying his goodbyes. At this point I expect to find that he has passed on peacefully in his sleep one of these days.

5. Aw bittersweet.
May his journey be swift as he moves to a different place. And for you - much peace and strength. What a wonderful companion you were gifted with. I hope your sweet memories outshine the pain's darkness when it's time.
