2. WHAT? It's LEGAL there? |
|
I'm not sure I believe that. In all seriousness, I could easily believe it was illegal, even if you are married.

4. It's odd that there should be any age of consent, at all |
|
since the city presumes everyone to be utterly sexless and condemned to hell if they are not.
Still, those slutty choirboys are such temptresses...

5. And under "male-male sex" = ? |
|
Though to be fair, I guess, female-female sex rates a "?" as well.
I notice that the official age of consent in Egypt is 18. After living there several years, I find that pretty funny. In some of the rural areas, an unmarried 18-year-old girl would be considered a virtual spinster.
On my daily commute to work, my drivers always liked to stop at a village shop selling sugar-cane juice. A popular pick-me-up for many Egyptians, but in this case they were attracted by the gorgeous young woman making and selling the juice. She was 16. That juice stand was one popular place...for a while. Whole herds of young men swarmed around the joint. The girl disappeared one day, and we heard she had gotten married.
Once in Alexandria, police noticed that a certain falafel stand was suddenly very popular with males of all ages. The man and woman running the place were pimping out their 15-yr-old daughter and some of her girlfriends, in the back of the shop.
There was one heartwarming story while I lived in Egypt. Two fathers in a country village got worried because their daughters were unmarried at the advanced age of 20. They went to a local guy who dealt in love potions and other hokum, including a lucrative trade in magic health potions.
He promised that the girls would be hitched ASAP. But after several months with plenty of necromancy but no romancy, the dads and some other defrauded villagers broke into his house and beat the crap out of him. The magician fled to the local police for protection. After hearing the whole story, the cops promptly jailed him for fraud.
