A Christian Store Denied Him This T-Shirt…
A Christian Store Denied Him This T-Shirt…

Gotta love this story from Reddit, about an atheist who walked into a Christian store…

They had a t-shirt printer that was used to put verses. I asked if a printing of a Timothy 2:12 shirt was reasonable. Being Christians, they had never looked that far into the Bible, so they looked it up with their handy dandy on site Bible. When they recited the verse (A woman happened to be the reader of the Bible) they informed me of how disrespectful of their religion I was being. I was unsure of how I was being disrespectful by asking for a verse from their Holy Book.

In case you’re curious:

So I really want to know: Why is that disrespectful? It’s not really out of context — not anymore than any other quotation would be. It’s in the Bible. So what if most Christians don’t happen to agree with it?

(Yeah, I don't have the cajones to post it in R/T.)

2. And here is the response you will get:
"I'm a Christian, not a Paulist. Paul was a misogynistic fool."

And they won't even bat an eyelash as they reject wholesale parts of the bible with no more reason than the right-wing fundies reject the stuff they don't like.

4. Some believers like to live in a bubble
Their Bible is holy and moral. Those violent, nasty parts don't exist. You know, the rape, murder, incest, genocide, infanticide, etc. Point them out and you're the bad guy.

6. Wasn't it Job...
who had angels visit him, and when the town wanted him to release, what appeared to be men, for them to have sex with he didn't- yet let his daughters go out there. Yeah, great family values.

7. That was Lot, and it's worse than that.
He offered his daughters as a substitute for the angels and then fathered his own grandchildren with them.

The NT calls him "righteous" and "just" :wtf:

12. I love Job's story
When Satan quite rightly suggests Job's faith was only because God had given him so much, God get's into a snit and tells Satan to take away everything and see if Job still worships. Just before Job curses God, God turns up does a song and dance number gives him everything back and dissappears. By not allowing the bet to run it's course God shows what a bad loser he is.

13. "tells Satan to take away everything"
Including killing his whole family, whose individual lives obviously meant nothing to the book's writers or to their "god".
