I, Robot any opinions
I saw the movie for the first time today. My wife informed me that the critics hated it, but she picked it up anyway because she felt that it would appeal to a nerd, like myself.

She hated it, she does not have a mind for science fiction. However, I found it quite entertaining. Yes, it is very predictable. A future with complete integration of robots was adequately portrayed within a traditional cops and robbers framework. For the Trekies, you have the nanites, positronic computers, and James Cromwell aka Dr. Zefram Cochrane.

Opinions?

1. Heh, heh, my bad
I just asked the same question in a different post. I liked it, but it could have been better. The combination of serious Sci Fi and Will Smith being the ultimate badass just didn't work well for me. But all the stuff about how the programming of the 3 laws into the robots working perfectly and ultimately being their fatal flaw in regards to humanity I thought was really interesting. I'm not saying they shouldn't have had any action in it, but the action was really phony and cartoonish, and seemed to me to be at odds with the more serious story. But overall, I did enjoy the movie.

2. Nope my bad, you beat me to it
Must have some psychic link, we posted the same question at almost the same time.

Anyway, I liked it also. Will Smith is a weak part of the movie, he just does not have the right persona, too much action figure than futuristic cop. A more toned down introspective type like we saw in Blade Runner would have been better. But Hollywood has to muck up a good Asimov story with action movie gimmicks. I did like the presentation of the robots in everyday life, but the action was over the top and distracted from the story.

However, I too like it and will probably watch it again.

3. The dumbest thing about this movie... (SPOILERS)
is that it seemed to me that the doctor's death was wholly unnecessary. Through the use of a friendly robot, and with that holographic gizmo he used to relay messages to his buddy Will Smith, it seems to me that he could have figured out a way to get a message out to Will and therefore end the movie before it even started.
