Trying to recall a sci-fi movie's name From late sixties to mid-seventies. |
|
This movie is based on a planet that has, IIRC, three suns. The hook is, the sujns have never "set" in living memory. A man lives with an scientist in his observatory. There are pictographs all over this thing that foretells the setting of the suns and observations of the movements of the suns indicates that this event is about to occur.
The movie goes on from there and ends with people really freaking out in the dark.
Anybody remember the name of this movie? I seem to recall Starfall as the name, but no searches for it under that name yield a thing.

1. Nightfall (1988), based off the 1941 short story by Issac Asimov. |

3. Thanks, what I really wanted the name for was the Asimov story! |
|
IIRC, there was also a remake novel based upon the story that Asimov did with somebody else.

5. Mm, yeah. I remember that one. |
|
More of an expansion of the original short story than a complete remake, IIRC. I want to say Asimov worked with Gentry Lee on that one, but he worked more with Clarke in the '80s and '90s as I recall...
*google* *amazon*
And the answer is.... Robert Silverberg? Huh. Wasn't expecting that one.
