1. Frakin' Yah!

That ending (without giving anything away except maybe to say how cool Dee is!) is one of the more moving things I've ever seen on TV.

Look what these writers have done with even a relatively minor character (is she really so minor I wonder??) as PO Dualla. Look what these writers have done with the major characters, look at the leaders they have created in Adama and Roslin heroic yet human - real! Similarly with the story it is epic yet real and it's all substantial.

None of the standard awards could even do justice to what the creators of this show have created (that's writers, actors, technical staff etc...everyone) and certainly they are gaining the only award that truly matters...people watching and loving it!

2. The characters are human with all their flaws
I don't have the benefit of our UK friends that get to see the episodes ahead of us, but I am wondering if the Cylons are developing distinct personalities and, if just as some humans will help the Cylons some Cylons will help the humans.

Personally I think their entire theology, which is shared by humans and Cylons alike, is entirely bogus as all theologies are. The one intriguing thing is that the tall blonde Cylon (I can't recall her name), keeps repeating that all these things have happened before. I can think back to some of the old Star Trek Next Generation episodes in which the crew was caught in all kinds of time loops.

Any thoughts on this?

3. The this is happened before and will happen again
discussion was kicked around here a little while back. I think it's going to be more subtle than a Trekish time loop.

I think it will turn out that the Cylons discovered Kobol and learned more details about the distant past than humans generally know. Perhaps they even know the geneses of the theology, which probably means they know the gods the humans pray to are not gods but either the creations of the population of Kobol to keep order among the colonists or a simple distortion of the diaspora history perhaps mixed in with rules that were necessary for early survival of the colonists.

Notice that Cylons seem to be Monotheists while humans worship a pantheon of gods.

I think what they mean by that is some pattern in history they have learned about...perhaps even something they see as a necessary cycle that must continue.

I definitely think there are factions within the Cylon ranks. I think the "humanform" cylons (to borrow an Asimov term) didn't quiet pan out like the Cylon leaders may have planned. I think there's an element of chaos to their development and behavior, something that isn't quite as controlled as the toasters are.

It may not be full blown civil war, or even strong factions working at cross purposes (yet?? or maybe just not overtly yet??) but there are clearly to my mind different methods perhaps even different objectives being pursued by various Cylons.

Sometimes their actions seem pragmatic and "non-mystical" some act as if their only motivation is this theology. Sometimes both motivations seem present.

And that would mean some level of individuality for each Cylon even the copies of each "type".

4. The Cylons monotheism is really intriguing
and we have yet to see any manifestation of their deity.

Thanks for the info. I can't hardly wait for part 2 of Home.

5. I'm thinking that by the end of the series, the Cylons may end up
being the "good guys?"

Or so frakking diabolical that the plot will...

Are the Cylons the "humans" of today?

6. Well I don't think
a group responsible for the cold-blooded genocide - which included the active participation of at least some if not all of the humanform Cylons - and the other personal atrocities and viciousness we have seen will turn out to be "good guys".

But I think the Cylons believe they are the inheritors of the Galaxy and I think at least some think it will be some blending of human-cylon that will be the masters of the galaxy. Perhaps they all think that and the differences are just a matter of degree of blending - some may think they are close enough, some realize their trouble breeding requires more human participation (via the farms) some think it goes deeper than that (need for love)...maybe there are other permutations we haven't seen yet.

One of those things may turn out to be true...maybe the 13th colony (I guess that would be us :) ) were essentially ancient Cylons. Or maybe the colonists were "created" by an earlier race of humans just as the Cylons were eventually created by the colonists.

And maybe one of those courses is the patern....

And maybe I'm just overly tired and letting my imagination run wild tonight :) I've never been able to really articulate my ideas about this meta-plot before.

7. No one has considered that searching for Earth will lead the Cylons
to it, if they haven't already reached Earth. I am also assuming that the Earth they are looking for is really not our Earth.

8. it could be our Earth
maybe Earth from 1000 AD or 3000 AD? they could be responsible for wiping out the dinosaurs, for all we know. Maybe the cylons are the ones responsible for changing earth to mostly monotheistic and not whoever founded Judaism, which then spawned Christianity & Islam.
