"Take me to your..."
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 05:59 PM by Orsino
In this game, we list examples of sci-fi books, stories or movies which defy this famous stereotype. When the aliens make contact with Earthlings, they don't ask to be taken to our leader. Instead, they ask to see...whom? Or what?

I'll start: "...paleontologist."
In Robert Sawyer's Calculating God, an eight-legged alien lands next to a Toronto museum of natural history, asking to speak with a member of the paleontology staff. It's a brilliant book, cleverly extrapolating a human scientist's reactions to aliens who offer scientific proof of Intelligent Design.

Your turn.

1. Bartender
In Spider Robinsons various Callahans Crosstime Saloon books, a wide variety of aliens (and other odd beings) wind up in the same bar. Some don't necessarily know they are looking for ANYTHING, but each short story is about resolving their issues.
