The Dark Knight: Christian Bale talks and Katie Holmes returns?

Last week, Warner Bros confirmed that Heath Ledger
has been cast as The Joker in a sequel to Christopher
Nolan's 2005 Batman Begins titled The Dark Knight.

"I like, very much, that it doesn't have Batman written in the title. This take on Batman of mine and Chris' is very different from any of the others and everything else always had Batman in the title," Christian Bale told FilmFocus.co.uk. "Heath is very much into what Chris had done with the first one and he's very passionate about the role. And he's a really good actor so we're going to see something very special from him."

Last year it was widely reported that the studio was very unhappy with Katie Holmes performance:

"She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress," a source told Page Six. "Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the JOKER rather than Katie and Tom."

Interestingly enough, there has been a lot of talk that Katie Holmes will reprise her role. We hope not. If the studio is going to push for a love interest, why not just do the Catwoman storyline?

1. I didnt' mind Katie's performance
but on the other hand, taking her out of the movie wouldn't have changed much of anything either...with most movies, it seems that there has to be a romantic/love angle to it...but she wasn't bad, nor stunning either...
