Bosses have held talks with John, 36 — who plays cop Sam Tyler in Life on Mars — and hope he will sign up soon. An insider said: “He’s brilliant and we would love to get him on board.”

1. Very interesting twist.

The Doctor was positive he was the last Time Lord - he could "feel" it. (Probably no Matrix connection anymore.)

Adding not one but two Time Lords back into the Whoniverse will demand some good writing.

On edit: Not to mention bringing back the Master from his supposed destruction in the FOX TV movie.

2. I would be OK if they just scrapped the Fox TV movie

and wrote it out of the continuity.

And I hope we finally learn more about the time war.
