Anyone else here see the season finale of Desperate Housewives?
I watched it last night, and thought it was an excellent episode! Very well written with enough plot twists and explanations (at the same time), to keep me tuning in next season. I was reluctant to even start watching this series, but Mr. Lavenderdiva was all into it, and got me started watching. Once you're hooked, you're hooked!

Keep in mind, I was once a regular 'Dallas' watcher, and haven't been caught up in such outlandish 'drama' since then... I don't know what that says about me, but that I lead a very dull life.

1. I love DH!
I had a feeling it was going to be Rex who died. I really thought they'd end it by hearing a gunshot as Mike walked through the door and we wouldn't know if Zach hit him or not.

I also knew that Lynette would go back to work and her husband would stay home with the kids, but I didn't necessarily think it would be his idea. Remember, that job at her old company is open, so she'll obviously be going back there.

Do you think Mike left Paul out there to die of starvation?

I can't wait 'til next season!

2. I thought the same thing
about the gunshot as Mike walked in the door! I didn't expect Rex to die though; that was a surprise. I am guessing she will be suspected in his death b/c the doctor had such grave suspicions before Rex passed away. Then, at some point, that pharmacist and his switching Rex's pills will come to light.

I had taped last night's episode, as I was watching it, as Mr. Lavenderdiva was away and wanted to watch it later. I watched it again with him, and caught a sly smile run across Lynette's face, as her hubby told her he had decided she would be going back to work. I wonder if it will be working for the gal that owned the agency who really wanted her, not her dear hubby? Is that the one you mentioned?

I wondered the same thing about Paul... Something tells me he will live, and make it back into the storyline. They need a villain, and he is sort of the nexus. Although last night's explanation of how they came to be the parents of Zach/Dana, kinda exempted him from being SUCH a villain-- if you can say that with a straight face, while knowing he helped dismember Dierdre, the reformed druggie gal who is Zach/Dana's mother!

This morning, on Good Morning America, they were supposed to air a scene from last night's Desperate Housewives' episode, that the producers cut, due to lack of air time. I missed it, and haven't been able to find a link on-line. See if you have any luck? If so, post a link.

all in all, just a fabulous episode!!!

I missed it this morning, and they may have a link on their website, but

3. I expect that a lot of next season will be
building up to finally figuring out that George was messing with Rex's pills. But I'm sure Bree will go through an awful lot before they finally catch him.

Lynette did have a hint of a smile on her face. And, yes, I was talking about the agency with the woman she had lunch with last week -- where she tried to get her hubby's ex hired and then it backfired on her. In the long run, maybe it will work out for the best for her, as I'm sure she'll love going back to work.

I also think Paul will live. I had a feeling Mary Alice actually killed Deirdre, but he's evil anyway -- besides the dismemberment, he killed Mrs. Huber and tried to frame Mike for it.

I didn't see GMA, as I was getting ready for work when it was on.

9. Are we really sure that Rex is dead?
I know he's supposed to be, but while shows usually milk death scenes, this one was only suggested by the note he was writing and then confirmed by a phone call where we don't even see the caller. I'm suspicious.

4. I think Mike is going
to turn out to be Zach's father. It will be interesting to see Bree go through being a single parent especially with the son who hates her.

5. I'm pretty sure that Mike being Zach's father will turn out to be the case
Did you see the look on his face when Paul told him Deirdre was Zach's mother? I have no doubt about this.

I agree about Bree -- her son is totally going to freak out now when he gets home.

6. Yes, and Wow!
Didn't George slip something into Bree's cooking supplies? I hope he gets caught. I'd hate to see her be blamed for Rex's death.

Gabrielle's story is interesting. I'm surprised she is going through with the pregnancy.

Ha! Lynette will have to go back to work after interfering in her husband's career.

I love the Zach-Susan-Mike-Paul story. I didn't understand what was going on until this show.

7. George switched Rex's prescription with potassium pills
Remember when Bree came into the pharmacy to tell him she couldn't go with him anymore, then when she asked for the prescription he said it wasn't ready? Right after she left he got out the prescription he'd claimed wasn't there and dumped out the pills. He no doubt put potassium pills in their place...

I think Lynette will have a love/hate thing with returning to work, but I'm glad Tom gets to deal with the kids more. Those boys are BRATS!

I think Mike is going to turn out to be Zach's father..hopefully he will figure it out and get Zach to realize it before Zach shoots him.

Next season ought to be excellent!

8. how did I miss that?

I didn't see George slip something into Bree's cooking stuff.. I did see him tamper with Rex's prescription at the pharmacy- looked like he switched his regular medication with something else. I still think Bree will be accused of having contributed to his death, and thru that perhaps, she will see George for what he is. But I think in the meantime, George and Bree will have some sort of a relationship.

I kinda think its neat that Gabrielle is going thru with the pregnancy, as she is the most glamorous of the group, and her going thru all the stuff associated with pregnancy (morning sickness, weight gain, unstylish clothes, etc), will be especially funny.

I think Lynette will love going back to work, and find her inner strength again. I also think her hubby is going to have his hands full with those kids. However, the shocker would be that he turns out to be a GREAT stay-at-home Dad, and handles everything beautifully. As opposed to Lynette's constant struggle.

At the end of the season finale, when Mike walked into the house, I really expected to hear a gun go off.. but they went to credits. How frustrating to make us have to wait for next season!!

10. The plot thickens
Edited on Thu May-26-05 08:00 PM by DawgHouse
I was glad the season finale answered some questions. They did a nice job of wrapping things up and leaving just enough hanging to have me back next season. (Not so good with the Lost finale, but that's another thread).

Anyway, I wonder if Rex is really dead... I mean, maybe the doctor just called and said that to Bree because remember, he asked Rex who prepared his food. So maybe the doctor and Rex are in cahoots and believe that Bree TRIED to kill Rex?? I just thought it was weird that the doctor called her and blurted out that Rex died "five minutes ago". Hmmmmm.... I hope he's not dead because I did like his character. And it would be too funny if Bree were charged with attempted murder next season.

Can't wait!!!

11. I think he's probably really dead....
the storyline had nowhere to go with him alive. However, I do think they would have called her to come into the hospital before they told her he died. I think they usually do it in person rather than over the phone.

Now, what I'm wondering is if we'll get to hear HIM talk the way we get to hear Mary Alice/Angela.

12. Oh, that would make sense
I was wondering what they would do now that they pretty much told Mary Alice's story.

13. I'll just bet you're right about Rex showing up again...
His voice-over would explain somethings about his and Bree's history together, and why their relationship was so acrimonious.

14. I thought I heard the actor that plays Rex.......
say during his GMA interview that he may return for a few flashbacks in season II episodes.

15. that's good news...
and certainly gives more weight to the hypothesis that he will appear in at least voice-overs. Perhaps even more?

16. I recorded it and missed the very end- didn't hear a gunshot
Until I read this thread I didn't know about this. I'm glad to know but hope Mike is OK.

This show is such a guilty pleasure!

I can't wait to see what Alfre Woodard's character will do.
