Survivor 12 - Exile Island - Interested in another contest AND a Question

I had a little Survivor contest last season and it went pretty well. I am considering doing another contest, but I had a question. Last time I closed the contest before the first episode aired. Some people were a little taken aback and wanted to pick after the first episode aired.

The contest was simple. Pick a survivor, and the one that lasts the longest wins. I bought a t-shirt that I sent to the winner (it should be arriving soon). I honestly liked the idea that there was only a guess, and nothing else involved. But I am open to ideas.

I propose that I open the contest on a set time the Monday before it airs (January 30 - which is also my birthday, at 12:00 noon in New York) and leave it open until the following Sunday (at 9:00 pm in New York) which is three days after Survivor's first episode airs. that way if you want to pick early you can, or you can wait til it airs. What do you think?

1. You could two contests

On another board I run, we have two contests. One is the Loserbowl, which is pure guesswork about the initial boots before the merge. Then we have the final contest, with prize, for the post-merge players, when one can apply a little logic and strategy to one's picks.

Of course, we do scores and each pick is important to get in order, which I now read is totally different from what you're doing. :-)

2. Sounds like a good idea to me.

If some want to wait until after the first episode airs to pick, it's okay by me. I personally like picking blind.

Remember, Survivor Guatemala's winner was snatched up early in the contest.

So if you wait, you might get stuck selecting from the dregs.

3. Yeah, I plan to pick early.

Even with what I know from the CBS site, I like two or three players. I also note that I suck at this. I rarely am even close to a good player. I picked Brian last season and he was terrible. Oh well.

...last season I picked Brianna. She was the one who rarely spoke and seemed to nod off at challenges.

I did pick Jay on the first Project Runway though, so I'm not totally hopeless.
