I bought Season I on dvd and bought Season II through itunes, then started watching from Maternity Leave. It's a lot more fun watching the episodes consecutively with no months-long breaks in between but I just have to be patient along with everyone else. :)
I got my husband hooked, too. But I feel like my patience could be tested if they don't start coming up with some answers. My husband skipped all of Season II up to Maternity Leave and I was able to fill him in in a very short time. It amazed me how little had actually happened since the end of Season I.

3. Yeah, a reluctant fan that is (spoiler maybe) |

Like the poster above mentions, the going is extremely slow and not for the impatient (who, me?)
I try to record a few episodes and watch them all at once, and I caught up last week.
I think we're going to find out it's not just Hurley's mind bender, but that it's a group one.
Pretty much like concensus reality, only a concensus hallucination or alternate reality.
And, even if it is something other than "regular" reality, the dumping of food by Hurley was just unbelievable, as was Sawyer tossing aside a cookie that didn't unscrew correctly.
Sheesh. It'd better be a dream of some sort.

4. I have thought it was a mind bender |

since them showing The Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge book this season. A great short story about what goes through a guys mind as he is being hung. It is by Ambrose Bierce. Be worth the read if you want to work on your theory (it was made into a short film by the french and that was turned into a twilight zone episode if you don't like reading).
