American Horror Story - Season One - Episode One - Spoilers |

What the hell was that?
It seems to be a pretty straight forward evil house drives resident to murder story but... The way they are telling this is pretty weird, definitely being done in a David Lynch style. Weirdness abounds everywhere, from the gimp suit in the Attic to the masturbating house keeper. A lot of what happened, you really could not tell if it was real or dream or imagined. The creepy house keeper that looks old to the wife, young to the husband and apparently has been killed at least once already by the strange neighbor... And the neighbors... WTF? What, do they have keys to the place? The whole thing was very weird.
Don't get me wrong, I kind of enjoyed it and am willing to see where they take this for at least a while. I'm not sure what the plan is for this series but I really don't see how this story can be dragged out for more then a season... and even a season is going to be pushing it unless it's a short season. I really hope the plan is to do a different story every year or I really don't see much hope for this show but for now I'll keep watching.

1. I see a lot of potential for this one. |

But then again, I don't know what the plan is either. I'm loving how the story is being told and every actor in it. Jessica Lange is seriously taking it to the hilt, I'm surprised and waiting to be surprised by what she says and does next. I think this first episode packed an incredible punch and see, at least, for 1 season the story will be tight in mystery, horror, depravity, what-kind-of-beings-do-we-have-here action, and really fine acting in this seeming hell hole.
My goodness, I'm wondering if the other characters - besides Lange, her daughter and the housekeeper - are in on whatever is going on with the family. I mean the teen boy-patient doesn't have an SSN number and feels free to wander the house. The previous owner, deformed by burns, I think I saw him smiling after the current homeowner stormed off, following his heartfelt warning. That creeped me out. Everybody in this house is being possessed in one way or another.
I hope the second episode doesn't disappoint because the first was satisfying to me.
